About Me

Hello beautiful people! I am Haya, and here is (finally) my blog! A self-taught baker, I come armed with a degree in English Literature and a full-time ongoing Masters in childcare!

I have been a foodie all my life but never thought I’d turn into a home baker! But I guess if you love food as much as I do, there is quite a chance you end up on the other side of the kitchen counter!

My love for cooking and innovating evolved from my love for art. What I feel in my kitchen is pretty much the same that I feel with a paintbrush in my hand and a blank canvas in front of me. It’s high of creation. A power trip, an imagination joy ride with the outcome equally in my hands and equally a surprise to myself. (All good surprises in the kitchen though!)

But the real world journey to become a cooking/baking enthusiast began in a more humble setting. Once my husband started taking a tiffin to his office. Yes…I give all the credit to him.

Having a fussy eater of a husband has its own upsides. Eventually, the tiffins evolved into lunches and dinners and before I knew it I was whipping up cakes and desserts and trying out new and exciting recipes on an everyday basis… so much so that now I know I should share it all. My recipes and the stories that they stem from, or that stem from them!

Stories I feel, are the secret ingredient in cooking. A legacy, a flavor to remember, an incident that led to making that accidental hit. It’s amazing how much culinary appeal a story can bring to a dish. Sometimes that story can be as simple as one word. Love.

Full Disclosure- being born and raised in Bhopal and married in Lucknow I am naturally a hardcore meat lover, and also someone who guiltlessly cannot deny her sweet tooth! Thankfully I have two beautiful kids to use as a convenient cover for my guilty culinary indulgences 😉

Welcome to my big little world. I will be cooking and sharing recipes and snippets from me every day. You will find scrumptious non-vegetarian and vegetarian food recipes that I have inherited from both the cities, some finger-licking healthy vegan recipes (my husband is also a health freak..uff..), desserts and bakes, and all kinds of food that kids love.

A lot of them inspired from baking geniuses like Mary Berry, Martha Stewart, Ina Garten and more. If you like what you see, give my recipes a try and holler if you need help with any dish you have struggled with.

Stay tuned folks!
